Mr C, you were a character and a complete one off. Always full of fun and fizzing with monkey business yet to be undertaken. I enjoyed many a night shift with you doing quizzes, plotting mischief, and putting the world to rights. We are devastated you’re gone. Sending our deepest sympathies to Heather and to Ian’s family. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Love from Marge, Adam and family

I first met Ian when I joined HMRC back in 1996. When we were introduced to one another, he shook my hand and said "Hi my name is Ian Cresswell nice to meet you. I know introduced myself saying "Hi my name is Partha Choudhury nice to meet you. We then sat down getting to know each other and it turned that both our mothers worked together in the same office in Ipswich. I will miss him, he knew how to make you laugh when you were feeling down and I can honestly say that I was proud to call him a friend, a very good and dear friend. God bless you and your family Ian.

Ian was the first team mate I chatted to when I joined the NCU. We spoke regularly about the serious issues of the day - such as the state of LFC, Championship Manager tactics and Pop Music. RIP.

I can't believe this is real and I have to write this. Ian was such a character and always had the time, patience and some humour for everyone and every situation. Lots of love to Heather & Ian's family. Hollie xx

I was incredibly sad to hear of Ian's passing. My heart goes to Heather & to Ian's family. If I had a pound for every time Ian has helped me at work, with his guidance and computer wizardry, I would be a much richer man. I used to enjoy our football chats and sharing our predications, even though his team would inevitably thrash mine. He was a top man and will be so very missed.

NCU OG. My memories of Ian began in HH 'the good old days' and making tea in the small kitchen Ian would always have time to cheer your day, sometimes just by the sound of his dirty laugh. Rest Easy my friend. Sending Love to all those that knew him. Amy xx

I never had the pleasure of working directly with Cresswell, but he always stopped to say hello when I passed him having a fag. A man of Myth, legend and good humour. So very sad to hear of his passing. My heart goes out to his family, friends and colleagues. He’s probably having a fag outside heaven’s gates! God bless him. Rest easy.
