  • We have also received an incredibly generous £340 in cheques for the British Heart Foundation, which we’ve passed to them directly. A huge thank you to Canvey Rotary Club, the staff at ‘Tremain’s’ shop and Mr & Mrs Marshall for these generous donations.

A great friend and next door neighbour for over 20 years. Never heard him say a bad word about anyone. He was kind, thoughtful and fun to be with. Along with Graham Edgington we had some fine times as teenagers. Will never forget him.

John was the best neighbour in the world. From the first day we met John and Pat they have made us feel very much at home. John was always lively and full of Jokes. During the covid times before we got our lawn mower, John would help us with our lawn. He would help bring back our bins if he is going down the lane to pick his. We are glad we knew him. May his gentle soul rest in peace. Our condolences to Pat, Mike, Paul and the whole family. From Ade, Bunmi and all of us.

Sincere condolences to Pat, Mike, Paul and the Tremain family.

It difficult to find the right words to sufficiently describe John as he has been so much more than just a good man to me over the years, both himself and Pat were near constants in a chunk of my earlier years and who I am much grateful to.

Others may know John as the family man, the charity man, the cricket club chairman, or local shop owner and pillar of the community (who seemed to know everyone).

I knew John as the man who gave me lifts to literally everywhere (I genuinely dread to think the miles John put in driving us to places over the years), as the host of legendary Boxing Day lunches (which were far from being just a family only affair), the man who loved a quiet chat, the man who cooked a mean bbq, the man who’d always be one of the first to introduce himself to new friends or partners, putting people at ease and making them feel welcome whatever the occasion, and of course… the man who’s legendary moves on the dance floor at cricket dinner dance were second to none.

I shall cherish my memories of John, his kindness, generosity, cheeky grin and infectious enthusiasm for life that has touched so many, he was genuinely one of a kind and will be sorely missed.

Until our paths cross again John, cheers 🍻
