Moved to Launceston in 1989, and my pub of choice was The White Horse. Johnny was always friendly, chatty and made me most welcome. I moved on but then returned to Bude to retire. First game of last season Plymouth Argyle v my team; Huddersfield Town. Johnny must have known I was coming with Nick Hairs. We met for a pre match pint or three and Johnny presented me with an old Argyle v Town programme from the mid 60s. I protested but he said no it's for you to keep. Class....oh and we lost 3-1. RIP Johnny. A lovely kind hearted chap. Pleasure to have met him.

A loving Father to Adam & Lee, a much-loved Grandfather to Meadow, Luna and Marley, treasured Brother to Marion and Hillary, Uncle and friend to many.
Johnny lived all his life in Launceston. He was a driving force in the local football scene playing for and managing Southgate United (formerly Stan’s Stags), Co-founder of Southgate Colts youth football club and managed and assisted multiple teams and achieved huge success acquiring multiple trophies.
John had many friends from his time working at Prouts Garage, Abru, Sprys, Truscotts and Motor Parts Direct. He loved to socialise and many will remember him fondly from their times sharing a pint or two in Launceston’s pubs and especially the White Horse which was his local for many years, and the go to location for a post match pint!
He loved his music and was often seen at gigs supporting local artists.
