Alan you would be amazed and humbled by the number of people at your funeral today - but nobody else was. Everyone knew they needed to be here today to pay their last respects. You’ll be forever missed and never forgotten. RIP Alan

I first met Alan Clegg aka Cleggy over 40 years ago on the football field playing against him was an absolute battle in those early years for Flatt Top but eventually we played together for the Thornhill Alma and then Thornhill Lees in those years I grew to admire and respect and love a man who was a winner on the football field but a gentleman off it and a friendship that I treasure
My heartfelt sorrow to Nicola and all the family for your loss of this amazing man he will be missed by you all and all his friends till we meet again Cleggy in another life RIP love TK

Cleggy, I’ll never forget the great times we shared, you were a father figure to me, looked after me like no one ever had. We lost touch but every time I saw you it was great to share the memories.

Thanks for everything you did for me, I’ll never forget, a true gent and honoured to have you in my life.

Go easy my mate, love to you always 💔xx

Alan I am proud to have called you my friend... my brother, you and the rest of the Clegg family took me into your home at a time when I was a young, shy and grieving teenager and I was blessed to have had you all in my life at that time in the late 1960's and early 70's as you took me under your wing and we rocked Dewsbury and Wakefield together.
Although for various reasons we didn’t see each other for many years in 2018 we reconnected and in these last six years we have enjoyed many happy hours together drinking, laughing, reminiscing and generally enjoying our new found friendship again but unfortunately that wasn’t to last and you left us far too soon.
Alan, you left your mark on this world and you will be sadly missed by many people.
So, until the time when you and I can raise a glass together again rest easy my dear old friend.
