I have known ‘Uncle’ John for 56 years
When they (‘Aunty’ Pam, Gillian and Martin) moved to live next door to us.
We all became good friends.
Us as children playing, going to school together, day trips, and our Mums and dads becoming the best of friends.
When I was 18 we moved away, not far, but our parents kept in touch often visiting each other’s houses for drinks and a catch up. Always putting the world to rights.
‘Uncle’ John was a constant. Would do anything for you. Always a wise old owl who seemed to make things better and not seem as daunting.
He was the one who got my son, Daniel, hooked on fishing.
Showing him the ropes and guiding him. Taking him out, even on a boat at one point; for hours and hours.
The patience paid off and it is something he is still passionate about today.
Such a lovely, lovely, man who will be missed more than words can say.

I had the pleasure of knowing John (Mr Couldwell) from the age of 11, being one of Gillian’s school friends. John really was the nicest, kindest man I had the pleasure of knowing. John always had time for everyone he knew and met along the way.
I know his family will truly miss him as he really, really was the best husband, dad, grandad & great grandad to them all. Rest in peace John (Mr Couldwell) God Bless xx
