Kenneth Newman (15 Nov 1932 - 28 Jun 2024)

I knew Ken and although I had long ago sailed West to the Canadian Rockies and hence to California, USA I never forgot him as a teacher of excellence; he taught me Geography and taught me well. We last met at Nigel Fanshawe's,our Old Man of KEG's 100th birthday party and I mean no disrespect to Nigel since he was a friend of mine at which time 10-12 years ago we had had a final chat. Ken was an academically knowledgeable, a great hockey instructor and great teacher above all . What always made me so incredulously interested about Ken was that I could never understand why he always looked so young. Had I know I certainly would have shared the secret. Many happy and treasured memories with Mr Newman at KEGS where I was a pupil from 1982-1990 ( first term he was acting head master) and in particular the sixth form when Mr Newman taught myself and a handful of others Geology A Level (and got me through with flying colours) and conducted some great filed trips including a fantastic one near Shrewsbury. Delighted that Mr Newman and Ann attended my 21st Birthday birthday celebration. Rest in peace Mr Newman, you did so much, so graciously for so many and helped set thousands of us on our paths in life. Our sincere condolences to Ann, Patricia and Robert and families.
