Beloved Barbara, 77, died peacefully at home in Hythe on Wednesday 3rd July after a short illness. She was born to Tini and Harry in 1946 in The Netherlands, the second of four children. Her sisters Elly and Gerda survive her, and her brother Huub, died a couple of years ago.
A nurse by training and temperament, Barbara met and fell in love with Michael, an English boy, on holiday in Spain. It was a romance that endured over 54 years. The couple had two daughters, Nicolette and Michelle, and six grandchildren, Madeleine, Elizabeth, James, Anna, Max and Frank.
Barbara seized every moment of joy and insisted on sharing happiness with everyone she met. She was generous, warm-hearted and utterly devoted to her family. She was also a professional and respected State Registered Nurse who was as loving and attentive to her patients, as she was to everyone. If you met Barbara, she made you, her friend.
Michael and her family will celebrate her life on Tuesday 6th August at a 10am Requiem Mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel RC Church, 2 Lower Blackhouse Hill, Hythe CT21 5LS. The Mass will be followed by a Cremation at 12pm at Barham Crematorium, followed by a simple reception at 1.30pm at the Sene Valley Golf Club. All who knew and loved Barbara are welcome to attend.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Air Ambulance Charity Kent,
Surrey and Sussex.

I’m sorry I won’t be at Barbara’s funeral as I am away..but I will be there in spirit and prayer.
Barbara and I had some open and honest conversations as we sat together at a recent UCM meeting to discuss Fratelli Tutti. glad I had that time to get to know her better.

Dear Mike. This is such a sad time and we extend our heartfelt condolences. Losing Barbara will leave a big hole in your heart and life. She was unique and such great fun. We'll never forget "Oh Michael" when you were in trouble or the many happy memories we've shared back to 1979 in Woking or our wedding in 1981. We have cruised together and enjoyed trips to Bruges with happy gatherings in Woking, Swindon, Horsham and Dover with Alan and Lin. Whilst we haven't seen each other that regularly in recent years we will treasure our memories of Barbara and the many good times and laughs together which we cherish and offer comfort.
