In loving memory of Brian McManus who sadly passed away on 29th June 2024, aged 74.
Brian Michael McManus was the eldest of four children born to Paddy and Pauline. He had three sisters - Mary, Maureen and Caroline.
Brian developed an interest in construction at an early age and qualified as a Quantity Surveyor in 1972, having gained a Distinction in Building Technology. In 1984, he made the decision to start his own company, Quest Building Services Ltd, which became a successful business as he was tenacious in his negotiations, yet professional and fair. He did not really enjoy retirement when the work dried up.
Outside work, Brian took a keen interest in many sports, particularly motor racing, rugby, football and cricket. He would have been delighted Lewis Hamilton won the British Grand Prix!
Away from sport he enjoyed photography, crosswords and computer technology.
Brian's health began to deteriorate in 2021 and he spent 7 weeks in hospital over Christmas and New Year into 2022. Upon his discharge he was looked after at home by wonderful carers and after three months improved sufficiently to be able to manage without them. However he continued to spend most of his time in bed and as a result he became increasingly less mobile. Throughout, Brian remained positive and happy ( if somewhat frustrated) despite being in pain a lot of the time.

Brian described the last few weeks of his life as 'rolling down the hill', sadly the slope became steeper but he was ready and at peace in his final moments.
