After being diagnosed with Leukaemia on the 13th June, Malcolm started Chemotherapy treatment straight away. He received 5 rounds of chemo and seemed to be taking to the treatment well. Unfortunately Malcolm took a massive turn for the worse over the course of a weekend and ended up in ICU on life support. He then sadly lost his fight and he passed away on Monday 24th June.

He was the kindest, most generous and loving man you would ever meet. His love for cars, boats and Tottenham went everywhere with him. He was the most incredible husband, father and grandfather but also an amazing friend to so many people.

His family would love you to come and pay tribute to him and celebrate his amazing life. Please come dressed in any colours you wish, we want this to be as bright and beautiful as Malcolmโ€™s heart was (no black please).

We will be hosting this on Friday 26th July at Guildford Crematorium (New Pond Road, Godalming, GU7 3DB) at 3pm. We will then be heading over to Broadwater Pavilion (Guildford Rugby Club) after for the wake (Broadwater Pavilion, Guildford Road, Godalming, Surrey, GU7 3DH)

I'm so shocked and saddened to hear about Malcolm - I'd not been in touch for a long while, but have very happy memories from RSW days in the 90s. Great and happy times, and I've loved seeing some of the photos on here from back then. My thoughts are with Malc's family and friends.

First worked with Malc 35 years ago, our paths crossed on many occasions since then, always generous with his time for others and became the "go to" man for good practical advice. Engaging, witty and kind. A privilege to have had Malc as a colleague and friend. Such a sad loss. Sincere condolences to his family.

  • Sorry all if you find this to light a touch for this occasion, but I just wanted to hit a happy note for Malcolms family, and I know him enough to know he’d appreciate it โ˜บ๏ธ Thank you for being a good friend Malcolm Kelly, my bestie ๐Ÿ˜˜, thank you for all those hairy rides in your stunning cars, and thank you for sharing your time with me out of work, and quite frankly, thank you for being you! I’m going to miss you mate, and miss the things we used to do together.    People used to say we were like an old married couple going to the pictures together so often, we did actually sit in the back row that time to watch Top Gun ๐Ÿ˜€ And the times we went into our usual haunt at Nando’s to eat before seeing the films, I recall, it was after lockdown and the world seemed to have altered over night. We turned up and had to scan ourselves in on the app  (after we downloaded it, what a palaver that was ๐Ÿคฆ‍โ™‚๏ธ) and then order our meals on there too. Oh did we fail, and had to ask the waitress to take our order old style on a note pad, what a pair of old gits we were, but wasn’t she a star ๐Ÿ˜‚   I so enjoyed your company on the boat, at the shooting range, at the pictures, lunch on our days off, great days! But above all, thank you for getting me into visiting the Goodwood Festival of Speed, I can’t recall how many times we went, but every time we had such a great day, and you’re knowledge of motor cars has always astounded me, thanks for the educational talks as we wandered and pondered over such beautiful cars, you knew so much about them all.   But me getting to Goodwood wasn’t so pleasing, and I’m so sorry that I let you down so many times. I’d turn up late because I got lost on the way, I’d go to the wrong gate and you’ll have to walk from one side of the event to the other to give my ticket. One year I lost my ticket altogether, and out of the nowhere, a true a gentleman had one spare at the gate and offered it to us (after we’d waited an hour to sort out my blunder at the ticket office), what a miracle that was! I must have made you so cross sometimes mate, and so sorry about that ๐Ÿคฆ‍โ™‚๏ธ    But last year I cracked it, I got there with plenty of time to spare, I got to the right car park, and right gate to meet you, I had my ticket with me, and bosh, we were in and you were so pleased with me ๐Ÿ˜‚ Sadly that’s as good as the day got… It rained all day, and two weeks later I had a letter on my doorstep containing a speeding ticket, and guess what, me on my way to Goodwood ๐Ÿคฆ‍โ™‚๏ธ You laughed when I told you, standard practice with you, and I went on the naughty step at a driver awareness course.    By the way Denise, thank you for putting those picnics in his car for us occasionally, and particularly the one when you made the elderflower cordial, I did hesitate when Malc offered me some, but I must tell you now in case he didn’t, it was absolutely gorgeous, cold from the flask and absolutely refreshing and uplifting, ‘oh wow’ I remember thinking. I’m comforted by the fact that although your life was cut off far too soon, you did have a wonderful life during your 66 years! You had the perfect family, a wonderful wife, two great children, and to top it all off you had years of love with your grandson Dylan ๐Ÿ˜ And the rest, nice cars, nice homes, and even better times with your friends and family.   Malc, I can’t start to try and understand, or even imagine how this awful turn has come about, it just leaves me feeling angry, and wondering why ๐Ÿ˜ก. My life will never be the same with without you in it my friend, we had so many things planned to do ๐Ÿ˜“ my heart goes out to your family and friends ๐Ÿ’”. Rest now matey,  and you’ll always be in my thoughts and my heart, I love you man, and our usual sign off emoji ๐Ÿ˜˜ I’m going to donate a bit of money to your cause, and I’m also going to plant a tree in your memory at Sunbury Depot alongside Tony’s. You loved Sunbury, and it was your favourite place to be even after all the changes, and everyone at Sunbury love you too ๐Ÿ˜˜ I hope I’ve not said too much Denise, Ema and Simon? But I was worried that I might not have said enough for that rock of man, who we all loved in one way or another xxx

Such sad news about Malcolm. A kind and caring gentleman who will be greatly missed. I remember Malcolm from my first day at work, 20 years ago. Malcolm always provided great support, encouragement, laughter, and honest advice throughout for which I will always be grateful. My thoughts are with Malcolmโ€™s family who he always spoke of so fondly.
