I've known Russell all my life as we met when I was months old and Russell was two.My Dad,Ted and his Dad, Bob served together in the RAF for the duration of
WW11 and became lifelong friends and our families met up every year whenever we visited Kent.
We grew up and Russell met his life partner and wife,Jane who shared his passion for dancing and I met the love of my life, Belle and although we didn't share their talent for dancing we kept in touch, a long distance friendship but a good one nonetheless that lasted up until Julie's heartbreaking phone call. We always looked forward to Russell's beautifully written letters with all his news and photos of events in their and their family's lives, the latest being of Julie and Dean's wedding at the hotel that meant so much to them.
You will be sorely missed, old friend, always a true gentleman.
Love
Allistair &Belle

Russell was an original...a true gentleman in every sense, generous, thoughtful and with a wonderful sense of humour. All those of us who came to know him (in my case through BHF/BIRA) will remember fondly his contribution to our lives whether it be in the course of business or simply having fun. He was a fine example to us of how to cope with all the challenges which life throws at us and still come out smiling.

So sorry to hear of your loss.

Russell gave me my first job on leaving school at 16/17 in 1976/77 at Johnsons Ironmongers, obviously when leaving school I didnt know much about the Ironmongery trade and was tasked with the job of painting the outside of the shop yellow.

Showing me the ropes were Russell, Pete, Eddie, Ron, Cyril, Vic, Gary, Paul, and of course Russells dad used to put in an appearance now and again.

Thank you Russell for giving me the opportunity of getting started on the employment ladder.
