In loving memory of Thelma Grier who sadly passed away on 20th May 2024.

Thelma moved from London to Tunbridge Wells aged 19 to join the NHS and study nursing.

It was more than a job for her but a way of life. She genuinely cared for the people she looked after and put her whole heart and soul into her work. She loved the people she worked with and colleagues became great friends.

She provided 49 years of service and was dedicated till the end. She will be missed dearly.

Thelma was a constant through out my nursing career, firstly when I worked on the wards and she would come to collect patients for the scan run. Then for the last 10 years working opposite her in radiology. I will miss her infectious laugh.

I have lots of memories of Thelma at the Radiology parties and especially the 100yr party for Pembury Hospital when she won the television, which I don't think any of us will forget. It was a pleasure to work with Thelma as it was a laugh a minute.

So saddened to hear this news of a very dear friend & colleague, we worked together at the Kent & Sussex. Still remember the time we all took ferry to Calais, My two girls, Thelma & Jessica where she bought a bottle of wine and I had the job of carrying it from France to the car in Dover. When we got to the car, what happened, yes I dropped it and it smashed to pieces. Never mind duck Thelma said we both had a good laugh after the shock. I will miss you Thelma, Condolences to her family. RIP Thelma.

  • Hi Heather this made me laugh! I actually came across a picture of us in France the other day. Although I don't remember the wine, I remember mum telling me the story - hilarious. We had some good times :)

We will definitely miss your laughter and charisma Thelma. I can still hear your very loud burp from eating too much olives stuffed with garlic. It was such a joy working with you back in the day and may you rest in peace..
