In loving memory of Yvonne Audrey Robson who sadly passed away on 23rd May 2024 at the age of 82.

Yvonne was born in Deptford, South East London on 8th February 1942. She met her husband, Don when they were both 17 years old and they were happily married for 61 years. Yvonne worked in London for several years before giving up work to have her children. She sadly suffered the loss of her eldest child, Timothy, just before his 7th birthday to a brain tumour, but aside from this had a happy life, living the majority of her life in Twydall.

In the 1980’s and when her children were little Yvonne volunteered at the playgroup at what is now known as The Rainham Christian Fellowship and she made some lovely friends who she remained in contact with over the years. There was even a tree planted in the grounds in memory of her late son.

Yvonne enjoyed being a stay at home mum, but returned to the workforce when her youngest child started school. She spent several years working in Connelly’s butcher shop on the corner of Twydall Green but this shop sadly closed down and she secured a job in the bakers just down the road. In fact, she had stints in both bakers that were then in Twydall but when these shops also succumbed to closure, which many shops were facing at that time, she hung up her apron and retired.

She was also an avid football fan. She was lucky enough to be at the World Cup Final in 1966 along with her husband. She was a season ticket holder at Gillingham FC for many years and together with Don and her family would meet other supporters at the Sturdee Avenue Working Men’s Club and also her local pub, The Dewdrop.

Yvonne was very chatty with a sociable nature. She was very active and enjoyed walking the family dogs. She also loved to dance. She was well travelled having holidayed in many European countries as well as further afield to Africa, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Mexico, Bali and Thailand.

In recent years she battled various health issues, but never once complained. She passed away on 23rd May 2024 at home with her darling Don by her side.

Yvonne leaves behind her beloved husband Don, daughters Yvette and Caroline, and 5 wonderful grandchildren Jacob, Theo, Ollie, Ruby and Ivy. She will be sadly missed by her family and all who knew her.

There will be a small funeral service at Medway Crematorium at 1.30pm on Friday 28th June and afterwards at The Bell in Bredhurst for refreshments and the family would like to invite those that knew and loved her to attend to celebrate her life.

Floral tributes are welcome and can be sent to T Allen, Twydall, or you may wish to consider a donation to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.

I have such wonderful memories of a kind and funny lady. That laugh was just infectious.
From those times after school, the memories with your lovely dogs Rusty and Paddy. Seeing your smiling face in the butchers in Twydall. My first holiday abroad with you all in Crete. Popping to the Dewdrop for a drink. Our high and lows of watching the Gills and your flask of something warm to keep us going.
Your care and thoughtfulness will always be remembered.
Fly high with your Timmy.
Sending so much love to you Don, Yvette and Caroline and all of your family.
Sarah

I never thought my heart could hurt as much as it does now that you have gone. I am trying to take comfort in the knowledge that you are now at peace and I truly hope that you have been reunited with your darling Timmy. I love and miss you every day. Until we meet again, sweet dreams my beautiful mother. Love you always and forever. Yvette xxxxx
