Simon Agland (24 Aug 1967 - 4 May 2024)
Donate in memory of
SimonRNLI - Royal National Lifeboat Institution
In loving memory of Simon Agland who sadly passed away on 4th May 2024.
Simon was a much-loved husband, son and brother. As well as a loving Daddy to many cats, dogs, hedgehogs and ducklings.
Showing a strong aptitude for IT, Simon worked in this sector since he was 16 and achieved a BSc honours degree and multiple diplomas in IT. He also loved all things science fiction. His passing on May the fourth isn’t lost on Star Wars fans.
He’d been an active member of both Southend and Coalhouse Fort radio yacht clubs. He was an early adopter of a new class of racing boat called Dragon Force. He ran events to help raise awareness of Transplant UK having received 2 transplants from Addenbrookes hospital. His donor pancreas lasted 15 years. Well in excess of all medical estimates. He regularly tested its strength through Haribo Starmix and jelly beans.
Dress for his celebration is smart. If you would like to, you can wear a small gesture of something red like a tie or scarf or flower to mark his passion for Liverpool football club. The funeral will take place at Southend crematorium on Monday 24 June at 10:30am. Refreshments will be served after the service at The Angel Inn in Shoeburyness.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the RNLI. Simon was passionate about their work. In 2021, Southend Lifeboat was the busiest coastal station in the UK. There will be a collection box on the day. You can also donate through this page.
We all love you and miss you Simon #YNWA
