In loving memory of Graham Richard Hadfield who sadly passed away on 29th May 2024.
Graham's working life was in insurance , initially with Royal Insurance, which became RSA, before becoming CEO of the Civil Service Insurance Society. It is in that role that he earned his OBE in 2004 for his work in raising funds for public service charities.
He was a founder member of the Benenden Charitable Trust and served on the Committee of Management for Benenden Healthcare and as Chairman of the Board of Governors at Benenden Hospital - a role he loved. In 2014 he dug the first sod of the £45 million redevelopment of Benenden Hospital.
In recent years he has been the Member Council Representative of the local Benenden Community and was fully engaged in that role. He also volunteered as a gardener at two residential homes for Canterbury Oast Trust, a learning disability charity.
Graham loved his house in France, motor-homing, golf, watching rugby, walking, diy, gardening and spending time with his family.
He has helped to develop the careers of many of his colleagues over the years and will be very much missed by us all.
We remember him with love and want our last goodbye to him to be filled with warm memories and bright colours please.

  • What a lovely surprise Ann! Graham had very fond memories of CSIS and all the staff he worked with there, and we continued to be loyal clients of course. He would have been very touched to know how well remembered he is. Thank you, Celia .

I only met Graham through Benenden Health at conferences about 8yrs ago, a short time in comparison to most. He had a great sense of humour, wit and above all knowledge. Whenever I asked him for advice, he never said what you should do but gave the options and from talking to him you had a good idea which way to go next. Condolences to Celia, their children, grandchildren, family and all fortunate enough to meet Graham. God bless

Graham was my manager and also, mentor, confident and friend for many years even from 4,000 miles away. His ability to get to the heart of a matter enabled my husband and I to make a life changing decision to stay in Canada.

Thank you Graham (and Celia)
