In loving memory of Dr Ara Ohannes Kiorkian (Kevorkian) who sadly passed away on 20th May 2024

Ara was quite simply an exceptional man. A man who was kind beyond measure, selfless, with a beautiful soul; not to mention a brilliant sense of humour!

Ara was married to Carole for over 45 years and was bereft by her recent passing. They were the love of each other's lives and simply couldn't be apart. They enjoyed many holidays together over the years, loving to relax together on a beach, G&T in hand, a place we hope they have now found again together.

Ara was a wonderful Dad to Anna, best friend and confidant and loving Father in Law to David. He loved being a hands on 'Baba' Grandfather to Ella and step Grandfather to Cameron also.

Ara leaves behind his loving sister Anno, Brother Nazo, brother in law Ohannes, and sister in laws Mary and Jane. Also special bonds with cousins Sona and husband Bruce and Alice...all who share treasured memories of childhood and then as they stepped into adulthood together.

Ara was by profession a Doctor for ovr 40 years with an exceptional career that spanned across the miles from Iraq to the UK and also across many areas of medicine, from gastroenterology, haematology and oncology.

Ara was known for his dedication both to the profession he loved and also his patients, who over the years became friends. Known always and lovingly as Dr Ara, he worked at the then famous Baghdad Medical City and then later in the UK at Derby Royal, Nottingham General Hospital (where he met and fell in love with Carole) and latterly Boston Pilgrim in Lincolnshire.

For all that knew Ara, they will remember the amazing family man, Dad, Baba, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, Friend. A true gentleman. A lover of a good political debate, so intelligent yet with a wicked sense of humour, loving a joke or to wind somone up, all with a cheeky grin and chuckle.

The void that has been left since Ara was taken away is unimaginable. We are beyond heartbroken. He will always be loved and missed by all.
❤️

Dad passed away at the incredible Wolfson Cystic Fibrosis Unit at the city hospital. Over the years Dad has been cared for by the amazing team here and the respiratory team led by Dr Saini. He couldn't speak more highly of these dedicated, doctors, nurses, health care assistants and catering/cleaning staff. His last weeks were filled with friendship and laughter...in thanks to them all we hope to raise some money in order to help others. Thank you.

Ara was a dear friend and colleague for over 3 decades. We all feel the health service should celebrate the life and service that he gave. He will never been forgotten.

My wife Judith was bridesmaid to Carol and Ara when they got married, Anna was bridesmaid to us on our wedding day 40 years ago and Lily ,our oldest son's daughter was bridesmaid to Anna and Dave on their special day. We treasure the memories of time spent with all the family over the years and cannot believe they are both gone. We love them dearly and will miss them both terribly but take consolation in the firm belief that they are now reunited.

I worked with Ara in Pilgrim Hospital for 7 years and he was so dedicated to his work and patients. I will remember his sense of humour and the way he said "Bugger Me" - I still say that to this day! A lovely, caring man who was a pleasure to work for. It's a pity we couldn't clone him.

Dear Anna-Louise, I am so sorry to read of the death of your Dad, Ara, especially so soon after your Mum, Carole. They are both wonderful people. It was a pleasure to know them. I so enjoyed bumping into them in, and around Arnold, then having a good, old natter. I send my heartfelt condolences to you and your family. Love &, hugs, Carole xx
