In loving memory of Helen Francis who sadly passed away on 23rd May 2024

Helen was a member of many groups in East Peckham, including a Cancer support group. She helped set up Lockdown Bear during Covid that had a worldwide reach and was an active member of the Wealden choir & The Russett Players.

Even through treatment, Helen always supported others, giving guidance and support even when she was going through challenging circumstances herself. This sums up Helen's mindset, always thinking of others first rather than her own predicament. She left Orson (9) and her husband Dave.

Family flowers only please but there is a JustGiving page set up in Helen's memory here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/david-francis-1718356264996 Or search in JustGiving for Helen Francis Tribute.

Helen's celebration of life will take place on the 24th June at Kent and Sussex Crematorium, Tunbridge Wells at 10:45AM

I met Helen when I joined Demelza back in 2010. I liked her straight away - she was warm, kind, bubbly and straight talking. Bizarrely, I also remember I loved her choice of tights and shoes - she had her own quirky style, I loved it! We didn't work together often but got on well - we'd have great catch ups when she visited the Eltham hospice. I vividly remember her whispering to me at a Demelza event that she was early days pregnant with Orson - it was such exciting news! She was always so thoughtful - made a beautiful photo frame for my little girl when she was born and gifted a gorgeous mobile which had been Orson's and then both my babies went on to enjoy. When I think of Helen, I will always remember her beautiful smile and warm, kind and bubbly nature and just how much she adored Orson and Dave. Sleep well beautiful lady xxx

Helen, you were an extraordinary woman who made a lasting impact on those around you. Your unwavering support and guidance played a crucial role in the growth and development of many, including myself. Your nurturing nature and genuine care made a difference in the lives of those fortunate enough to know you.

As a young woman, you showed resilience and determination in pursuing your dreams. Your drive and ambition inspired others to reach for their own goals and never give up. Your support provided a strong foundation for your loved ones to thrive and succeed.

As a wife, you were a pillar of strength and love. Your unwavering dedication to Dave was evident. Your commitment to your marriage served as a model for others, showing the power of love and partnership.

As a mother ( and step mother) you were a source of love, guidance, and wisdom. Your selflessness and nurturing nature shaped the lives of your children, instilling in them values and lessons that will carry them through life. Your unconditional love and support created a safe and loving environment where they could grow and flourish.

Helen, your impact on those around you was immeasurable. Your kindness, patience, and understanding touched the hearts of many. Your devotion and support will never be forgotten. As you continued on your journey, may you have been blessed with joy, happiness, and fulfillment. You were truly an inspiration to us all. I wouldn’t have the career I have now or be the person I am now if it hadn’t been for this woman, I’ll love you forever, our beautiful H xxx

I started Demelza as a 21 year old, feeling incredibly nervous. I will always remember, Helen introducing herself. Her bubbly, kind and thoughtful personality shone, her smile instantly made me feel at ease and as our friendship grew, she would always joke and call me ‘little sis’. She wasn’t just a colleague, she very quickly became a friend, a guide ,mentor, who helped me to grow, advise and supported me personally and professionally. I loved how she voiced her opinions and stayed true to herself at work. I looked up to her for that.

I loved hearing from Helen about her life and her family, she had such a positive outlook on life and was incredibly proud of the wonderful family she was part of.

I’ll miss you Helen but know your impact on myself and others will never be forgotten.

Helen and I did our NCTJ together in Portsmouth back in 2000/01. Although we didn’t see each other after we both settled down with families, I always enjoyed seeing Helen’s antics on Facebook! She was so full of energy and light and it seems she kept this amazing outlook even in the face of adversity. What an inspiration for many and a wonderful role-model for her son. I loved hearing about his name-Orson was my maiden name and you don’t hear it much! Helen will live on in the awesome person I have no doubts that he is. My deepest condolences to Dave and Orson. Helen was taken too soon but her impact on others was more than many have in a full lifetime. Much love and prayers x
