This page is a tribute to Barry Houghton Thompson who sadly passed away on 28th May 2024. Much loved husband of Ann, devoted dad of Sarah and Helen, proud grandfather of Harry, George, Lucy and Joshua and good friend to many. Barry was much loved and will always be remembered.
A funeral to celebrate Barry's life will be held at North Wiltshire Crematorium on Tuesday 18th June at 2.00 pm. Family flowers only and any donations in memory of Barry, if desired, would be appreciated to benefit Dementia UK.

We only met you and Anne on one occasion, but we heard lots of fond and precious memories from Sarah, Simon, Harry and George.

Barry, Ann and we have been friends since our school days, all brought up in a small area of Whitefield in Lancashire. We lost touch when they moved to Greenmount north of Bury, and we next coincided with Barry as we passed their house in 1967, prospecting for a move: he was in the bare rafters of his roofless new garage as he worked to complete it!
After they moved to Sibsey we exchanged visits and spent holidays together over the years, including New Year celebrations in Norfolk with the whole family.
Amongst my fondest memories of times in Sibsey are the daily morning walks Barry and I enjoyed together in that lovely countryside, often with his good friend and neighbour George Bulman.
Barry will be much missed by Ann and their family, and by many friends such as us; we will always be grateful to have shared the great privilege of his warm and loyal friendship. May he rest in peace
