In loving memory of our mum, Margaret Edith Terry, who sadly passed away on 13th May 2024.

Margaret started her nursing career at the age of 17 and qualified as an SRN. She worked in many places around the UK, including Reading, London, Oxford, the Malverns and the Isle of Wight, completing additional courses including Midwifery part 1, Fever training and Chest surgery. She was keen on long country walks and swimming. She eventually worked as a sister at Preston Hall chest hospital where she met our father, whom she married in 1962. The rest of her life was spent at Aylesford, working many years at the GP surgery as a receptionist and dispenser. If you would like to add your happy memories of Margaret on this page, we will enjoy reading them.

The funeral service will be at 12.30 on June 11th at Aylesford Parish Church and all are welcome to attend. Afterwards there will be a committal at Medway Crematorium. The funeral reception will be directly available after the church service. If anyone would like to go straight there instead of attending the committal at the crematorium, please do so. We are expecting most people will want to do this. We will be joining the reception after the crematorium service. The reception will finish just before 6.30pm. If anyone attending the reception has any dietary requirements, please let us know before June 9th.

If you would like to leave a donation to one of these charities in lieu of flowers, please do so. Mum supported many charities during her lifetime, including these three, and would have approved.

Thanks, Christina & Matthew

I think this is Margaret with her brothers and older sister. Other photos in the album seem to indicate that it probably was the year that Geoff was born.

Working with Mr Terry at Preston Hall I witnessed Margaret's skills and dedication as a nursing sister.
Much admiration too for Margaret when, laterly, she would maintain her fitness levels at the swimming baths.
Grateful for her encouragement to listen to Classical music and also for her calm compassionate voice when times were tough.
Happy memories of afternoon teas and a shared love of the mobile library van.
A privilege to have been a friend

Margaret has been my friend since 1959, when she came to Preton Hall for.6 months prior to going to Australia. That never happened as she met Terry and subsequently married. Our two families enjoyed many times together over the years.
After I moved to St Helens I would come down and stay with Margaret. It was good to catch up and reminisce about working at P.H
also at the Drs surgery. The places we went to and the things we had done. During lockdown, we kept in.touch via the telephone, but things got increasingly difficult for her
She was a good listener, a wise and compassionate friend. She was strong in her Christian faith and kept me steady in mine.

I only met your Mum in the latter stages of her life when she joined our (Christina and me) annual 3 day trip to Ragdale spa and thoroughly enjoyed getting to know her. She had a lovely personality, was generous and kind with a good sense of humour and didn't stand any nonsense which I really liked. I shall definitely miss all the walks of recent years around Ayleford and
spending time with your Mum afterwards consuming cups of tea and treats which she unfailingly provided.

Imet Margaret at Oxford when we attended the Midwifery course. Since then we have been good friends for many years and visited Margaret and her husband many times on a holiday inEngland on the way from Canada to Austria. We had many a good laugh together. That is Margaret and Terry andmy husband Otto and I. I am sorry to say that Margaret and Christina never managed to visit usin Canada.
She will be with me forever.

Growing up, my Auntie Margaret seemed to be always full of energy and life. Later I saw that she was also principled and wise, a truly good person whom I will miss enormously.
