Thankyou so very much for your incredible generosity. The money will be used to rejuvenate the garden at the refuge - I think mum will approve

Oh Sheila: a beacon of inspiration during my teenage years in so many ways. I have the kitchen sofa as a direct consequence. Wishing Jen and all the family comfort from your shiniest best memories (perhaps some will be times on that very sofa)? Much love Julie and Magnus x

A truly lovely lady . She was the School Nurse at Redhill Boarding School in Kent for most of my 6+ years there 1982-88 .

Caring , a wicked sense of humour , sympathy when needed and not afraid to be stern with people .

Last saw Shelia in 2006 at a Teachers memorial . It was great to see her again .

Bye Shelia , myself and the other Redhill Lads shall never forget you ... 😢

  • As a contemporary of Rob's, I will absolutely back this up to the hilt. She treated us loony* kids with just the right balance of love and firmness to keep us somewhere within a mile or so of the straight and narrow. All that and she lived on site with her family - that must have been an experience for all of them. I struggle to think of a better person. The world is a worse place without her. *School for disturbed kids - ranging from the merely odd to the royally screwed up - and she had time for every one of us.

  • I learned this sad news this morning having visited the school website for the first time in a while. Sheila was one of the best people I ever met, she was my counsellor during my time at the school and had such a positive impact on my life. She'll be in my heart always.
