In loving memory of Roger Garnit Berry who sadly passed away on 15th May 2024.

Dad's motto was "work hard, play hard". For many years he ran his own very successful advertising agency (although he rarely talked about his successes). As a boy & a young man, he was a very accomplished sportsman. As he got older he also loved travelling and wine (ideally both together!). And most of all, he loved meeting people and he loved a party!

So while Dad's battle with Parkinson's was hard & we are of course very sad at Dad's passing, we would like to focus on his lust for life, and the many happy memories that we all have of him.

Funeral arrangements:
If you are coming to the funeral, please don't feel you need to come in funeral clothes - the order of the day is 'smart casual' and we really want to send Dad off in good style. Please also join us after the funeral for a celebration at Mum & Dad's house in Hythe:

2a Brockhill Road, Hythe, Kent, CT21 4AB

There is lots of free parking space outside the house on both Brockhill Road & on Hillcrest Road. If you are coming to the Crematorium by train, we should have some space in various cars either for a lift back to the station or to Brockhill Road.

If you were thinking of sending flowers, please could you make a donation instead to Parkinson's Uk - a charity and cause very close to our hearts. There is a link on this page.

Many thanks

Therese, Matthew & Sarah

To Uncle Rog, Big Rog, a true family friend. I've got such fond childhood memories of visiting you and Auntie Anne at Hawkenbury Hall - walking Whizz, your amazing dog, and pretending to like Bovril when you didn't have Marmite. We had some great times together in Spain, memories I'll always treasure. Lots of love, Matt (Maff No. 2).

Our dearest Rog Podge Bottoms,
You will be sorely missed by us all; I can only echo Danielle’s thoughts on what a huge part you played in our lives. As a small children we always looked up to you as such a big character; in stature as well as your spirit and zest for life and laughter. We will never forget your cheeky, infectious grin and squeeze hugs. We spent so many happy years with you and Aunty Anne in Hawkenberry Hall; thank you for always letting us play with your ‘bang’ gun and your chicken that laid eggs and for the endless episodes of Mr Bean!
When Simon and I got married, you gave us the most thoughtful and personal gift; one that Simon will certainly always cherish! I will always fondly blame you for his expensive love of wine now, but he always recounts your wise words before we set of touring the Vineyards of France to “find the expensive village you love, but always buy from next door”!

Everytime we open a bottle of Borsao we’ll be thinking of you! May you rest in peace now and knowing that you are hugely loved by us all xxx

Dear Uncle Roger, otherwise fondly known as Rodge-Podge Bottom,

You were one of a kind.
Ciara and I will always remember the recordings of Mr Bean in Hawkenberry Hall, with some ginger beer as a treat. Walks with Whizzer down to see Thomas. Your super smart office outside which we weren't allowed into!
Endless memories in Spain, when we were little - drawing, playing and listening to Chris De Burgh in the 80's. Then as we got older, strolling to the beach and sharing meals at the Chiringuitos together.
You were heavily involved in our lives; holidays, Holy Communions, 18ths, graduations, engagements, weddings and christenings of our babies.
I was so sad when I heard you had finally gone, but you are at peace now and the wonderful memories can live on. Every time I play cheesy old Chris De Burgh I think of you.
All our love, Danielle & Ciara Abbott xx

Elbows deep in the big photos box, frustrated they are all so useless, not one right for dear lovely Uncle Rog. But then I realised I don't need a photo. I've got a whole heart full of bright, sunny, happy memories. Crystal clear, shining, laughing, as vivid as the day... and full of love.
