In loving memory of Edward Arthur Clarke who sadly passed away on 5th April, 2024. Edward was a beloved husband, father, grandad, brother and uncle. To some he was Ed or Uncle Eddie, to others simply ‘Ted’. He touched the lives of many with his kindness, generous spirit and fabulous sense of humour.
Edward grew up in Edmonton, North London, with his parents Arthur and Annie, and sisters Pam and Lynn. Enjoying a very close relationship with his family, Edward grew into an ambitious, fun-loving young man, who took pleasure in taking care of others.
His wife Christine was the love of his life, and they enjoyed a marriage lasting nearly 60 years. It was love at first sight at a dance hall in North London, and they built a wonderful life together with their two children, Andrew and Alison. Edward adored his children and was always full of helpful advice and wisdom to help them through life. He loved his grandchildren, James, Sophie, Charlotte and Nancy, and was so very proud of how they approached life with energy and determination; ready to try anything and be anything.
Arsenal fan, amazing gardener, nature lover, family man and true gentleman, Edward approached death as he approached life. Brave, practical, selfless. In his last few days, he said to his children, “Now, I don’t want anyone to be sad. I want everyone to be happy. I’ve had a good life. And that’s something I’d like everyone to celebrate.”
Rest in happiness and in peace, dear Edward, knowing you’ll be missed every day and loved forever.
