Our Dad was born in Cornwall in 1938 and grew up living on farms in Cornwall and Devon with his siblings Eric and Joan. He grew up to work on the railways shoveling coal on the steam trains and later qualified as a driver which he did until he retired.
He married our Mum, Carole, in 1965 which was the same year that they had their son, Paul. In 1968 the family relocated to Southampton, and in 1970 they had their daughter, Tracy.
In the early days the family spent many happy times with the Redwoods and Herdings, taking many holidays together. Once the children grew up, they lived a full life with many great holidays around the world, and frequent trips to the Barnstaple Mayors Ball with the Priddis family, Mum's infamous sisters, with whom they did much together.
Unfortunately Mum passed away in 2005 but Dad continued to travel taking many cruises to places like Singapore, Alaska, the Panama Canal and of course the Mediterranean.
His grandson, James, was born in 2006 and over the years he enjoyed passing on his green thumb and supporting James' interest in music. As a result of Paul's marriage he acquired a step-grand daughter, Erin, with whom he had a close connection and one particular boozy night in Dublin the truth of which will now never be known.
He enjoyed golf, though professed to not be very good at it, and was also a keen card player, hosting regular poker sessions at his house, and was also in several cribbage teams.
He made a lot of great memories and in turn helped make many fond memories for others throughout his life and we are thankful for everyone who was a part of it.
Dad's service will be at the Wessex Vale Crematorium, Bubb Lane, Southampton SO30 2HL at 11am on Thursday May 30th, and afterwards at the Southampton Arms, 89 Moorgreen Road, Southampton SO30 2HG. We request no formal wear.
