Aileen McInnes (5 Dec 1943 - 27 Apr 2024)

In loving memory of Aileen McInnes who sadly passed away on 27th April 2024 age 80 years old.

Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother who started out life in Kent before meeting her future husband at the fair ground. As they collided in the dodgems and the pennies scattered everywhere, John McInnes helped to pick them up. As they chatted, they ignited a spark of chemistry that was undeniable. There was months of letter writing, back and forth, which proved difficult for Aileen as she was unable to read and had to enlist the help of her friend to communicate. Eventually they embarked on an adventure together in Scotland where John was originally from and Aileen’s new husband taught her to read and write. They raised 4 children together and enjoyed many happy times.

Aileen eventually moved on and had other partners over the years. Her beloved Joe, Eddie and most recently Sammy. But the spark that led to Aileen eloping to Gretna Green at just 17, was still there. Aileen and John remained in each others lives and gave each other support when needed. John went as far as to propose marriage again at the end of his life, declaring his love for Aileen. How romantic!

Aileen lived a happy and fulfilling life with a loving family by her side. Her children Malcolm, Angela, Ian and Paul as well as grandchildren Andrew, Kirstine, Bud, Jake and Paul. Aileen also had 6 great grandchildren who all loved her dearly.

So dearly loved and sorely missed.
