Arthur Haslehurst (14 Apr 1924 - 21 Mar 2024)

This obituary is In loving memory of Arthur Haslehurst who sadly passed away on 21st March 2024. He was just short of his 100th birthday which would have been on the 14th April 2024. He had three wishes towards the end of his life. He did not want to reach 100, he did not want the fuss. He did not want to go into hospital or a care home and he wanted to go to bed and not wake up. He did achieve those wishes, it was a running mantra with his family, his carers and the multipe NHS workers that supprted him during those final days.

His funeral will be held at Southend crematorium 11:30 on 23rd April 2024, Please can you indicate if you will be attending.

Arthur has requested that there are no flowers taken to the crematorium or any specific donations to charity. He did however ask that if you would like to purchase flowers in rememberance of his life, please do so and display them at your home until they fade away just as he has done.

There will be a gathering afterwards to celebrate his life in the social area of the Mallards Sheltered housing complex 236 High Street Great Wakering SS3 0HY. There is limited parking on site, however opposite the Exhibition public house there is an entrance to the recreation ground parking area. Please use this out of preference, it is only a short walk to the Mallards. Please use the side entrance to gain access as you may not be heard if using the main entrance.
