I'm so sorry to hear about Vic. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. After lockdown I started to work from home and Vic used to walk past my house every day to pick up his paper. We started to wave to each other daily as he walked past my window. Every so often we would have a chat and he would talk about his time in the military and his wonderful family. He was a truly lovely gentleman and I am so sorry for your loss. Tracey x

I will miss you dearly and will forever cherish the many fond memories of the times we spent together.
From you and Nana taking me and Kian to the pantomime every Christmas time, to our day out in London together at the Imperial war museum. I will miss having cups of tea and biscuits with you Nana and hearing about all of your stories. I will always admire the love you and Nana had for each other too. You was always there no matter what, whether it was attending mine and Kians sports days / school award ceremonies or giving wise advice. You were always there and so supportive, proud and loving.
You were a true gentleman, always dressed so smart and an extremely kind and understanding individual. I will always look up to you.
Thank you for being the best Grandad that anyone could ask for. Sleep well xx

I had the honour and privilege of becoming Vic's daughter-in-law in 1995 and being welcomed into his lovely family unit. Vic become more like a second dad to me. Helping and supporting me during my parents ill health and then loosing them in 2021 and 2022. Vic always asked how I was and made sure I was looking after myself too. If I needed any advice, I would always speak to Vic. I will miss Vic (Dad) very much and I thank him for giving me a loving husband Andrew, and without Andrew, my two much loved children Annalise and Kian. I will always cherish our family memories especially thinking at Christmas time, coming round with big sacks of presents for the children, being always so smart, wearing a Christmas tie. Our German Shepherd Bear sitting on your lap. Always coming to Annalise and Kian's sports days, Christmas nativity and taking them to pantomime and then for tea at MacDonald's to your dismay as was not Scalini in Chelsea. Such fond and happy memories always. Good Night Dad - sweet dreams, love you Melissa XXXXX

I was very saddened to hear of Vic's passing. Since my first movements posting in BOAR in the mid 60's until I retired in 1990 our paths have crossed frequently. When in lived in Moenchengladbach (2 postings) I would met Vic regularly on Sundays in St Andrew's church in Rehindahlen. After retirement I would meet Vic monthly in London for the movers getogether in the Overseas league club. He truly was one of lifes Gentlemen.

  • Chris Backwith. I had the pleasure of serving with Vic twice in my career. As everyone mentioned he was a real gentleman. If I could match up to his standards I would be a better person for it. RIP Vic.
