In loving memory of Terence (Terry) McGann who sadly passed away on 17th March 2024 aged 88.
Terry was born in Leeds and was one of four children of Thomas and Mary McGann. Having served his apprenticeship in Leeds, Terry then joined the Royal Engineers and during his 9 years with the army he was based in Germany, Singapore, Christmas Island and latterly in Southampton which is where he met Eileen who later became his wife.
As stated in his army record Terry could turn his hand to anything and having set up home in Southampton with Eileen, Terry went to work in the Esso oil refinery and then at Vosper Thorneycroft where he put his sheet metal work skills to use. However when Terry retired he discovered his love of lawn bowling and was a regular at Lockswood Bowling Club where he spent many an afternoon up until he was diagnosed with Dementia in 2022.
Terry was a much loved husband and cherished father of Matthew and Emma, as well as a much loved Brother, Brother-in-law and Uncle and will be much missed by all who knew him.
'If love could have saved Terry, he would have lived forever.'
Terry's funeral will be held at 3.00pm at Wessex Vale Crematorium on Monday 15th April 2024 followed by a celebration of his life at the Gaff Rigger in Hamble to which friends and family are invited.
Family flowers only but donations if desired can be made in his memory to Dementia UK or Cancer Research UK via the links below.
Please feel free to leave memories and photos of Terry for his family and friends to enjoy.
