In loving memory of Maureen Helen Lowe.
Maureen sadly passed away on the 7th of March 2024, aged 83. She is survived by her sons, Robert and Alan, and grandchildren Darcey, Eleanor, Isabel, Joseph and Lewis Inman. Maureen was a wartime baby born in 1940 to George and Betty Mills in London and was the elder sister of brothers David and Peter. She spent much of the war as a child evacuee in Wales with the Welsh side of her family. Maureen started work in catering at D H Evans, living in East Acton and then Ruislip Gardens. She left home with her friend Marion in a Messerschmitt car and worked as a telephone operator. Moving to Lewes, she married Raymond Inman in Brighton, after meeting Ray when he decorated her flat. Together they successfully ran their own Auction Galleries in Temple Street for almost four decades, passing the family business to their eldest son Robert and his wife Sarah on their retirement. Maureen loved gardening, birds, family history, travelling and the sea, enjoying an array of motor boats and sailing boats on the south coast with Ray and the boys before Ray's death in 2001. As a great cook, Maureen's was renowned for her mouth-watering choice of food. Often presenting three different choices of dessert, she was affectionately known as 'grandma-three-puddings' by her young grandchildren. In her retirement, Maureen married Jeff Lowe after meeting on a cruise and moved to Winterbourne, Bristol, from where they shared their love of cruising and caravaning. She will be dearly missed by all her family.
