In loving memory of Philip Richard Wadkin who sadly passed away on 18th November 2015.
Phil was born in Harrogate on 1st June 1962, as a child he attended Woodfield Primary School and then later Granby High School.
In 1995 Phil moved with the Ministry of Defence to RAF Wyton, around the same time he met Gill. In October 1995 Phil and Gill got engaged and then later married on 29 June 1996. PPhil was very proud to also take on the role as Dad to Charlotte. In October 1997 Phil was thrilled to become a Dad again and have a son, Matthew. In February 1999 they had a duaghetr Becky. Phil was still working for the Ministry of Defence and alongside Gill set up a bouncy castle business. In 2003 the family moved to their current home in Papworth Everard.
In 2007 Phil and Gill has twins, Chloe and Olivia making the family complete. The bouncy castle business was sold so they could all spend the weekends having quality family time together.
Phil supported Gill in her next business venture and was a key player in the opening of the Nursery.
In 2014 during a building project at the Nursery Phil began to feel tired and lose weight which we initially put down to all the extra work we were doing. In Oct 2014 he went to the Doctors with a swollen testicle and as a precaution the Doctor sent him for a scan.
This scan revealed the devastating news that would change our lives forever. Further tests showed Phil had Colon cancer and liver metastasis. Following bowel surgery in Dec 2014 Phil was given around two years to live if he had Chemo. In early 2015 he started Chemo, he had quite a few problems with the chemo but the scan showed it had helped to reduce the cancer. In July 2015 Phil developed Jaundice, he had a stent fitted which sadly wasn't a great success and he ended up in hospital for 10 days with sepsis. In August 2015 our world was ripped apart as he here told there was nothing more the doctors could do and he had only weeks to live.
We were pleased Phil stayed well enough to walk Charlotte down the aisle in September and he was still here for Matthews 18th birthday in October. Shortly after Matts birthday Phil started to deteriorate rapidly and sadly towards the end was on a huge amount of pain relief.
With the support of the Arthur Rank hospice at home service we were able to follow Phils wish and care for him at home. The charity provides night sitters, this meant that Phil had someone medically trained to look after him at night and Gill got the much rest overnight.
Phil was a great family man, he was fantastic Dad to his five Children and someone whom I am proud to have called my husband for 19 years. We will be truly missed by many people.
