On 27th February 2024, dad passed away peacefully aged 83.

He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
It has been comforting to hear the stories of how dad touched so many over the years, thank you for sharing them.
At this very sad time we remember why we loved him; his humour, big smile and his delight in a good joke, his love of cricket, and of course his endearing grumpiness (a Smith trait!). God Bless you dad. Now at peace.

Please all join us for a Service of Remembrance at St Andrew’s Shrivenham at 11.15 and afterwards (Reception) at Shrivenham Memorial Hall from 12.45pm so we can share our memories of Chris and celebrate his life together.

Poppa, what a great innings mate. I know it's been a while since we last saw each other, but the memories of us in the middle east still run clear through my mind. I'm glad you got to see Mum one last time, make sure you say hello to kirsty for us too!

Very easy visitor as this was where you could always find him from dawn to dusk. Loved his sun 😎. Good job we lived in some very sunny countries

Poppa, we have had a lot of great memories together, from you always telling me off and me always pushing the boundaries, to us actually becoming really close as I got older and more mature. I can never forget when you and grandma would always argue when mum insisted we all spent Christmas together! Some great videos of that but not sure they allow videos on here. I will never forget always going through your old clothes and picking out everything that I wanted even though all of them had holes in. I hope you’re having a great time up there with mum and that you’re at peace now. I can say confidently that a care home was just not for you! Love you, Jacob ❤️

Yes, another photo as this is one of my favourite of the 3 generations. This one from the tennis in Doha when you visited us. I loved spending time with you and especially our banter of Wales against England. Miss you. Please say hi to my Mum & Dad too.

Chris. Dad. Thank you for your side of the gene pool. Without you I wouldn’t have had such a beautiful family 😉 you’re the best father-in-law I ever had !! Seriously though I’ll miss you and your cheeky sense of humour. We had some laughs and some fun.

Poppa, I hope you are resting peacefully. I’ll never forget your love of the Middle Eastern sun, tanning from sunrise to sunset! We loved having you come to visit, your bellowing laugh and need to lick the plate at every meal! Love, your Becky.

Poppa, you will be greatly missed. I will miss your humour, jokes and your chuckle! I am so grateful for all the memories we made together and for all the time I spent with you growing up. I used to love a Sunday as you’d come round for a Sunday Roast and to watch the Formula 1! And I’ll never forget you enjoying the rollercoasters at DisneyLand Florida with us! I will miss hearing your voice when you eventually answered the phone “helloooooo”! I hope that you are now at peace and that you and mum can have a good laugh up there together. Love you lots Poppa and give mum a hug from me xx
