David was a good friend who helped me greatly both personally and professionally when I first came to Grimsby in 1982. He is very fondly remembered by all the Path Lab staff at Grimsby and Scunthorpe Hospitals where he offered sound leadership and stability at a dynamic time when the services at both hospitals were being dramatically improved. He left a sound legacy to his successors in Chemical Pathology and is now justly part of its folklore.
