Frank Whiting (Passed away 21 Feb 2024)
Funeral Director
In loving memory of Frank Russell Whiting who sadly passed away on 21st February 2024.
Frank passed away after a short illness, cared for at home by his family and wider health care professionals.
Born in 1933 and brought up in Poringland, where he spent his childhood, before meeting his wife Peggy at a Swardeston dance and then marrying her in 1956. They were married for 67 years spending the majority of that time living in Hellesdon, before returning to Poringland 10 years ago.
Frank and Peggy had three children, Mark, Garry and Dawn and he was a Grandfather to 9 and Great Grandfather to 4 when passing.
Frank was a great sportsman in his time, playing football, cricket and snooker for his employer of 45 years, Start-Rite Shoes. He also loved fishing and spent early Sunday mornings fishing the many rivers of Norfolk, sometimes with his children and Peggy. He continued this pastime when he moved back to Poringland in 2014 and fished at the Poringland Lakes (known earlier in his life as the Pits when he was a child) where he had several friends.
A real character who had high standards and expectations in life, with his humour always making people smile, whether it was the family, friends and the carers who supported him in his last few weeks.
He will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.
Donations in his name will help research and provide support for those, who like him, encountered Dementia in their lives.
