Rest in peace Grandad, your warmth and kindness lives on in everyone you loved and left an impression on. We were so grateful to have a Grandad so caring and funny. You inspired my passion in politics and working in social justice, and to be even as half intelligent and witty as you were. Lots of love x

I remember when my mother came to England for the first time. It was Robbie's baptism and Charlie took my mum under his wing. Even though she didn't speak English (I was the 'interpreter'), she enjoyed every moment of it.
I saw Charlie for the last time when he wanted to show Liz and me around Greenwich. He knew a lot and could talk in a pleasant way.
Loving memories of a generous man.
God bless.

RIP Charlie - you were such a kind gentleman.
I have such lovely, happy memories of you - especially singing ‘On the Road to Mandalay’ at Nanny Sarah’s many years ago.
With much love.
