In loving memory of Roy Patient who sadly passed away on 24th January 2024. Much loved Husband, Dad, Granddad and Great Granddad, who is dearly missed.

As many of you will know, Roy passionately dedicated so much of his life in helping improve the lives of children with their general welfare and, in particular, education. As Chair of Governors of Eastbury School for the past 30 years, his aim had always been to ensure children of all abilities and circumstances had access to and received opportunities to realise their potential, starting with a good standard of education.

The family have chosen two charities which they feel reflect Roy's values in these respects and we thank you in anticipation of your generosity in supporting these worthy causes in Roy's memory.

KidsOut - this charity helps children fleeing domestic abuse (physical, emotional & sexual abuse) to seek sanctuary in refuge. It gives these young disadvantaged children positive experiences to support them becoming future members of our society and workforce. KidsOut works to remind these vulnerable children what its like to be children and just have fun.

The Children's Literacy Charity - this charity seeks to unlock the potential of disadvantaged children who can be up to two years behind where they should be, not just with reading but with all the important literacy skills: writing, comprehension, listening and speaking. As specialists they help prevent the most behind from being left behind.

So very sad to hear of Roy’s passing. My late mum, Glennys, always considered Roy one of her closest most trusted friends over the years. We have very fond memories of seeing them both sat at the kitchen table putting the world to rights for hours at a time. Often they would be preparing for a governor’s meeting or for a local campaign or working hard for the local and national elections. It was an honour to know him and we will always remember Roy as a man of great compassion and kindness - and lots of laughter! He leaves a lasting legacy with all who knew him. Sending all the family our love, we hope the best of memories brighten the darkest of days. Sarah, Steve, Izzy & Stan xxx
