Dear Kate and Peter,
Ruth and I want to send you our deep condolences on the passing of your beloved parents, Clive and Marilyn. We first met them in February 1994, when they very kindly put us up for the night before I was interviewed for the post of Vicar of St Mary Magdalene’s. Marilyn then became my secretary for several years. I had a lot to learn, but she was always hugely supportive and professional, and such fun to have in the office, being so welcoming and helpful at all times. Clive, too, was a great support to her and a delightful friend to us. Although we had not been in touch for some years, it caused a real pang in our hearts to hear that they had died. But it is a joy to know that they are now united in the Lord and Saviour they loved and served so well. Sadly, parish commitments mean we cannot join you for their Thanksgiving Service, but we will be holding you very much in our prayers as we give thanks for two such loving and faithful friends, to us and to so many. May they rest in peace, and rise in Glory.
Nicholas & Ruth Maddock
Vicar of St Mary Magdalene’s 1994 - 2004
