In loving memory of John Gibbon who sadly passed away on 20th January 2024.

Pam and John Gibbon have lived all over the world...Germany, Holland, assistant Air Attaché at the Moscow Embassy, Suffolk (RAF Wattisham...twice!), Kuwait, London, Surrey and then retirement in Rochester, Kent where he was a much feared opponent at the bridge table!

Wing Commander John Gibbon MBE had a long and varied career in the RAF including Squadrons 111, 11, 226 and 64. He flew the Lightning and the first ever British jet fighter - the Gloster Meteor.

His speciality was air defence as opposed to ground attack...so he was often scrambled to ward off Russian aircraft probing our airspace!

John Gibbon leaves a widow, Pam, his children Mark, Joanna and Piers, and is also much missed by the next generation: Lusha and Demyan, Wan Mae and Mei Mae.

FUNERAL DETAILS

For those making their own way to Medway Crematorium, there are fairly prominent signs once you are on the M2 interchange at junction 3. If you arrive early, you are welcome to join us for tea/coffee beforehand at Mark's from where the funeral cortege will be leaving at 2.00pm.

No flowers but you are welcome to make a donation to the RAF Benevolent Fund or, even better, fix a time to come and see Mum and we can go out for tea or a meal to remember happy times.

Kenneth Edmond donated £50 in memory of John
