Leigh,
Where to start! When I got the news from your mom I was in total shock, we hadn’t long spoke via messenger.
We would often reminisce about the “good ole days” as we called them when you, me and my brother would play outside the back yard of Knox Road, you called it the “back entry” haha. We were so inventive with our games. From football with our imaginary goal posts, to playing tag where we would climb up the bank, around the back of the shed and jump off the wall. Remember the time you brought out a boxing glove and either me or my bro used the peel of a Lemon as a gum shield, we created a pretend boxing ring and held boxing matches haha. The times when your mom would call you in from playing outside and you would be at your bedroom window showing us all your wrestling figures, you always had the latest ones. You told me you missed those days, I empathised greatly. We were carefree Leigh and it was lovely reminiscing with you after all those years, I guess somethings never leave you.
You recently said to me, it was a dangerous and cruel world and I said always give thanks one minute your alive and the next minute your not, you told me “Exactly”, you had a heart of gold, a gentle soul, would always ask how family was.
Sorry I can’t be there to say my goodbyes in person Leigh, today is my daughter’s birthday, it’s a bitter sweet day for me. I’ll raise a glass to you and say a prayer for you and your mom today.
I’ll miss you Leigh but I’ll forever hold the memories we share as kids outside the back entry of Knox Road. Shine bright Mr, goodnight & Godbless
Kelly x
