In loving memory of Joseph Abbott who sadly passed away on the 20th January 2024, aged 88 years.

Born in Nottingham in 1935, Joe was the eldest of 4 children. He attended the Basford and Berridge School for Boys until the age of 15.

Called up at 18, Joe joined the RAF as an aircraftsman and military police with postings in Egypt, Aden, Kenya and Malta, then a permanent posting in Germany some years later. After leaving the RAF, Joe worked as a Policeman, Prison Officer and Postman. In his spare time, he loved holidays, reading, quizzes and crown green bowling and was proud to be a member of the Chaddesden Bowls Club.

Many will remember that Joe had a story for every occasion, some factual and others not so factual. As long as he had an audience, he was happy.

Joe is survived by his children, Gail and Charlotte, granddaughter Katie and wife, Janet. A funeral service will take place at the Markeaton Crematorium on 13th February at 11am, followed by refreshments at The Farmhouse, Ashbourne Road, Derby. All are welcome to attend.
