Ian was a very kind and helpful person who I got to know as a member of Wollaton U3a Music Appreciation Group and as the long standing Deputy Chairman of the Wollaton Recorded Music Society. His knowledge of classical music was extensive particularly about Mozart and he was renowned for his excellent presentations for the Society where he usually spoke without notes. We also had many interesting and enjoyable discussions on all sorts of subjects entirely unrelated to music. He will be greatly missed.
