In loving memory of Michael Deeney who sadly passed away on 19th January 2024.

Michael was born on 27/01/81. He was 42 years old.

Michael grew up in Partick and enjoyed skateboarding, motorbikes, and playing snooker or pool as a child and a young adult. He worked in hospitality for most of his adult life covering hotels and bars and enjoyed socialising at the other side of the bar too.

Family was important to Michael and he loved looking after his Nana and helping me with our nieces and nephews when they had a sleepover or a party at ours. Despite his initial grumpiness he was extremely kind and loved to share anything he had and would do anything he could to help you out.

He enjoyed having control of the TV remote and would play and replay classic programs. He used to have a vast collection of VHS tapes and DVDs and would enjoy watching Billy Connolly classics and waking everyone up with his laugh. He loved rock music and would constantly sing the wrong lyrics to songs he repeatedly listened to. He would also tell and retell the same old stories of working in Ireland, experiences of his life, and just memories that he had. He could be really funny without meaning to be.

Michael met me at the end of 2002 and was my manager at the Lismore Bar in Partick. We were married in 2010 and have pretty much been together and spoken to each other every day since then. He was one of my best friends in life. I was lucky to have known and loved him.

Tragic news to hear today. I remember the first day I met Michael as a young boy working as a glass catcher in the Quo Vadis function suite.Angie and I were always glad when he was on our shift- many many years later he joined our brilliant team in the Corona Bar in Shawlands-2004/2008. He brought with him vast experience and a willingness to join the weekend ravers and the madness of working there.. we even got him up on the bar to dance- a thing he said he would never do- Aye right Michael.. jack & coke and a pint of Guinness was all it took . Great memories..with love. The Brodies, Lorraine, Lee, Big Reido, Tam and of course Angie xx
