  • Dear Frank Hello I’m Tanya, Richards eldest daughter (executor etc). Yes dad did sail with shell tankers uk Ltd in the 1970’s, he sailed on SS Achatina scrapped in Chittagong, Alinda, Lings, Liparus a massive long ship he joked to us as kids he was in charge of opening the bow doors for James Bond film spy who loved me, Hemitrochus where I was conceived, Opalia where we found a photo of mum Sandra (frankie) painting the pipes green on deck in a boilersuit, Drupa which I remember had two funnels, Methane progress which was moored near the king Harry ferry Falmouth with sister ship princess, we visited, we sailed on most of these ships plus others and visited dad in Singapore, Rotterdam, Dubai, South Africa, Houston, been down the suez and Panama canals, the Manchester ship canal to the tolls and lots more. We have loads of photos, postcards/letters, even telegrams, plus stories and memories of our time with dad on ships!! From sitting at the captains table, running tabs up in the bar, steering ships in the bridge, gojbg into the massive green engine rooms using metal steps, to his cabin up top, one that was oak. If you’d like to contact me my email address is teejkeats@live.com Thank you for your kind thoughts and wishes, take care Tanya

  • Not many people knew dad as Rick or Ricky so it’d be nice to know another person from his past as we were just kids at the time, tell us some more stories!!
