Graham Peter Tromans (29 May 1950 - 4 Jan 2024)

In loving memory of Graham Peter Tromans who sadly passed away on 4th January 2024

Graham Peter Tromans was born on 29th May 1950 to the parents of May and Stan Tromans. He grew up in Blackheath at 73 Beaumont Road near Shell Corner. He started his school days in 1955 where he attended Holt Road Infant and Junior school which was at the bottom of the road.
Graham lived opposite Andy who many years later became his Brother in Law, but before this Andy and Graham spent a lot of time together, being best friends playing together in the street, on their bikes, walking to school together, and eventually moved to Hill Top, Hill and Cakemore Secondary Modern in September 1961 where they were in the same class for 4 years together, and his love for woodwork came during his time at school.
Graham spent a lot of time at Quinton Woods with Andy and every September they would go conquer picking together and sledging in the winter. In the summer months they would catch the 123 from shell corner to Langley swimming baths which was a regular activity to do, they sometimes cycled there too.
As Graham got older they would love to collect the fire wood for bonfire night and do penny for the guy and the money they collected would go towards fireworks. At Christmas time they would go carol singing all round shell corner to try and get money, they had so much fun together.

Graham and Andy remember helping the breadman deliver to the streets, and they worked all week and only got 2 bob a piece…. They soon had something to say when they hardly got anything for their work!!!
He started to go down to The Nimmings and watch Blackheath Town in the early 60’s and then eventually caught the Midland Red Special Bus to the Molineux where his love for the Wolves started.

He left school in 1965 and started at Austin. He attended Bournville College and started as a apprentice pattern Maker. His first job was on the countryman Mini where he worked as a apprentice with the inventor of the mini. Graham worked on the bench as pattern maker for many years, to working in prototype build which led him to the revolutionary world of Rapid Prototyping, where he developed the Rapid Prototyping and Tooling development in Rover and later in LandRover. After 37 years he retired from Landrover and in 2002 he started at Loughborough University in the additive Manufacturing Hub, where he provided the link between academic research and industry. In 2009 Graham decided to start his own consultancy, where he would advise, and give lectures on all the knowledge he had gained over many years, and still was doing until very recently. Throughout his time at Landrover and Loughborough he travelled all over the world with his job role and has influenced so many people and helped others in their careers.

Graham loved the outdoors, he had a passion for fishing where he enjoyed fly fishing, carp, trout and salmon and even sea fishing. He also taught fly tying at evening classes as he loved it so much. He enjoyed his beating days and Vicky and Richard spent many Saturdays with their Dad doing this. He loved Minis, and enjoyed working on them with Richard. But his main love in life apart from his family was the Wolves. Graham rarely missed a match and loved going to the games, and overtime enjoyed sharing his love for this with Richard and eventually Callum. He was a true supporter.

Andrea first saw Graham at the Plaza Dance Hall in Old Hill in 1971. The second time they saw one another, he asked Andrea out the next day, it was a Sunday and he took her to The Dog at Harvington, Andrea was 17!! From that day they were always very happy together going out with friends dancing. They got engaged at Christmas and Graham gave Andrea a ring on Christmas Eve and they went to the Summerhill at Kingswinford.
They saved very hard for their first home at Hordern Crescent, and they married on 7th September in 1974. In January 1981, Vicky was born and were both very happy and in 1983 Richard was born and their family was complete. In 1986 the family moved to Cider Avenue and this has been their family home ever since.
They had lovely family holidays away, which started in a tent and then they brought their first caravan. They had lovely family holidays to Cornwall making many happy memories as a family. Over the years the family visited Spain and Turkey and later Andrea and Graham started their love for cruises where they had lots of happy memories. Over the last few years they purchased another caravan and Graham always said it was their ‘Getaway’ place and they loved being together listening to their music and being happy together.
Their first Grandchild Callum was born in October 2007, followed by Alice in December 2014, and Elizabeth in July 2021.
Graham was a black country man, with a great sense of humour, but he had a heart of gold. Always willing to help anyone and was very kind to so many people. He was a very special husband, Dad to Vicky and Richard and a very special Grand to Callum, Alice and Elizabeth and will always hold a special place in lots of people’s lives.
