In loving memory of Stanley James Gula | 29th November 2003 - 26th November 2023
A son, brother, nephew, and friend, Stanley's impact on those who knew him can never be understated. For those who grew up with him or knew him as recently as university, he was always someone to guarantee laughs, music, a genuine care for others, and an ever-present scent of coffee and cigarettes. Effortlessly cool, absolutely hilarious, the best fashion sense, and the strongest person we ever knew. Stanley was extremely passionate about the things he cared about - he helped the homeless where he could and dreamed of becoming a music journalist for years. Having made it into Manchester Metropolitan University to study the subject, he had so many plans and aspirations for the future. It was here that Stanley found his people and it will forever be heart-breaking to know of the potential we never got to see truly flourish. Stanley's greatest love was music. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of his favourite bands and artists, had plenty of opinions on so many more, and even taught himself how to play guitar. Stanley's absence will be felt by all those who knew him and will be greatly missed forever.
The funeral was held at Gedling Crematorium on the 8th January 2024 with a wake that followed at The Tree Tops pub in Mapperley to share memories of Stanley's life. We'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who was able to attend. We hope the day helped you - if even in the smallest of ways - as we think it helped us.
This obituary will remain open indefinitely should you wish to return to it and leave a message, a photo, or continue to light candles. The fundraiser for CALM will be closed in February.
