In loving memory of Peter Spooner who sadly passed away on 7th December 2023.
There are so many phenomenal things about Peter that we will all remember in our own ways; all of which reflect just how loved and valued he was, and how much he is missed every day.
From his early years in Leicestershire he enjoyed numerous jobs, careers and business enterprises of which there were almost too many to mention. Most notably perhaps were, working in family businesses, time as an electrician, many happy years in the Ambulance Service and his National Service in the Royal Air Force. Although only a short period, the pride he felt from his Service in the RAF remained with him throughout his life and the RAF Benevolent Trust is a truly fitting home for donations in his memory.
Of perhaps the 2 most important parts of Peter's life, the first was meeting and marrying the love of his life, Gwen. Together they shared a lifetime of happiness; no-one could be blessed with a more happy or loving partner to travel through life with.
The second key part of his life was family; Ian, Lea and Ross completed that for him. There are so many happy memories of growing up in a vibrant and joyful family home.
Everything Peter achieved throughout his life was through sheer hard-work and a determination to provide the very best he could for his family. All was underpinned by an eye for detail and simply 'doing things right.'
Later moving to Cornwall and then Torbay, one constant in Peter's life was his huge enjoyment of model-making. Hugely talented he was able to create planes, boats and pretty much anything from scratch, often utilising the most basic of plans to produce something truly remarkable. Some of his larger and more complicated creations took literally years to complete and remain such a legacy of his life.
It was subsequently only that sense of determination that enabled him to carry on after Gwen passed away in 2010. Having been so lovingly looked after by Gwen, his ability to continue living completely independently for a further 12 and half years, well into his nineties, was an incredible achievement.
There are no words really to describe everything that Peter has meant and will continue to mean to us all, or how we will manage to live without him.
