Dear Mum
My mum was a beautiful woman
She had a dazzling smile and laughing eyes
A five foot pocket rocket
She was very caring, creative and wise.

I am so grateful she was my mum
Believe me I know I was blessed
She was a good friend and neighbour
And as a Nan she was simply the best

Always kind and caring
She had a very big heart
Always tried to be there for others
Supporting them and playing her part.

Be it a listening ear, a helping hand
Or a kind word, a gentle touch
She was always there if needed
Nothing was ever too much

She had a terrific sense of humour
Was extremely quick witted for sure
She enjoyed making people laugh
A true entertainer at core

Mums biggest challenge was
Surviving, after the death of my Dad.
He was her first and only love
Living without him, made her sad.

After nearly 60 years together
Her experience of loneliness was the worst
I lost count of how many times she said
‘I’ll kill him for going first’

In recent months she warned me
That she thought her time was near
She had seen Dad in her dreams,
Who told her to find her ‘party gear’

We saw the butterfly on the window
On that cold but sunny winters day
A sign that she would be transforming
And soon be flying away

Dear Mum although I’m sad you are no longer here
I am glad you are now free of pain
I hope you found Dad at “the party”
And you’re back safe in his arms once again!
Much Love
Karin x

I am filled with both sorrow and gratitude for the loss of my dear Nanny Nora. A lady who stood tall in our hearts, despite her small frame.

Nanny, you were the embodiment of love and laughter. And, together with Grandad Danny, you created a world of joy and warmth for us. Your home was not just a place for after-school dinners and homework sessions but a haven where love was sewn into every stitch – be it the costumes you crafted or the clothes you lovingly altered for family or friends. You were always willing to help us in whatever capacity you could.

Your dances, your sense of humour, your poems and sayings – these are just a few of the treasures that will live on in our memories and some of the things that I shall miss most.

We were blessed with countless holidays - from the sunny shores of the Costa Brava to the cosy caravans of Clacton. Every moment spent with you and Grandad is a very cherished memory.

As we say goodbye, I find it a comfort that you may be reunited with Grandad Danny in whatever plane of existence that surpasses us. I hope you find all the loved ones we’ve lost along the way, (and yes, even Keith). I’d like to think that you two can at least have a drink together.

You have left an incredible, indelible mark on our lives, Nanny. Though we miss you deeply, your spirit, your love, and your wit will continue to guide us. Thank you for being an extraordinary part of our lives. We were so, so lucky to have you. I love you so much.

Nanny, your beautiful smile, sassy, cute dance moves and those endearing
cheeky winks will be dearly missed. The sweet yet repetitive compliments
you made about my clothes and hair will not be forgotten as well as your
famous 'fly poem', infectious laughter, favourite sayings and the quick,
witty remarks. Your warm Nanny hugs along with your familiar reminder
to ''be good, don't do anything I wouldn't!'' just can't be replaced. And
above all, I will really miss hearing you say ''I love you''.
However, I am and forever will be grateful for the countless wonderful
memories we created together. Our childhood was filled with fun packed
holidays in Santa Susanna, Clacton and Great Yarmouth and days out
(during school holidays) at Belfair's Woods, Wat Tyler, Canvey seafront
and Kids Kingdom. As we grew older, there were other kinds of
adventures – lots of shopping and bargain hunting in charity shops,
delightful visits to our favourite restaurants & cafes. Along with the
warmth and happiness of birthdays and Christmas celebrations and even
my wedding (which I am so thankful you were able to be there for) All of
these memories will be treasured beyond measure, and they will continue
to bring comfort.
As you reunited with Grandad, I could almost hear you saying (as you did
countless times to us) ''I'll kill you for going first Danny!'' And his playful
reply, "Come on then Nor', kill me!" as he enveloped you in the hugest of
hugs.
Sleep tight, beautiful Nanny. Your love will forever be in our hearts and
your absence will be deeply felt by all who knew you.
I will love you and miss you always.
