What a very special man. Brilliant memories of school and then holidays together. You so didn't deserve all the health crap you had to put up with - but you were amazing throughout it all. Mick, you will be so very very much missed. Loved you mate. It must be so very hard for Kate and the boys. Sending much love to you all.

Knew you only a short time but quickly realised what a funny, articulate and genuinely nice bloke you were. You taught me that ballroom dancing can be fun (with a few beers) and that you can never retire too early - and I certainly owe you for that one! Lots of love to Kate and the rest of the family.

  • I'm afraid you may have the wrong person. Michael went to Bulwell St Mary's Primary School and from there to High Pavement Grammar School. During his working years he was trained in an Apprenticeship at the Royal Ordnance Factory. He subsequently had other jobs including Cussons. He had a later career as IT Manager at Morris Vermaport Ltd (the Lift Company based in Chilwell) but this was cut short by his Leukaemia diagnosis in 2006. Since that time he has had a continuing battle with this disease and subsequent issues after a stem cell transplant effectively ended the leukaemia but inadvertently led to 'GraftvHost' disease. In constant pain and subject to plenty of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and other painful medication, he was always the supreme optimist. He had no illusions about what the the future would hold but during that time he was a fantastic brother, husband and father, and a great friend to all who knew him. He will be sadly missed by all of us and my deepest sympathies go to his wife Kate, and my nephews Martin, Stuart, Neil and Mark. Peter Fox
