Funeral Director
In loving memory of June "Betty" Alston who sadly lost her battle with cancer on 26th October 2023.
Betty was born on 17th February 1931 in Godstone, Surrey. She was always very fond of the area and lived in or in nearby Bletchingley for the whole of her life.
Betty bore five children (Susan, David, Janet, Margaret and Marion) who adored her very much and she was the figurehead of the Alston family for decades to come. She was later to be blessed with 13 grandchildren and many more great grandchildren.
Family was so important to Betty. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them often treating with cakes, sweets and all kinds of tasty goods. A speciality of hers was her famous homemade bread and butter pudding.
In her spare time Betty enjoyed playing darts right up until her late 80s, gardening and the aforementioned family time. She will be missed greatly by all of the family and the many friends she made over the years. Betty always brought such joy to our lives with her fantastic sense of humour and unlimited kindness.
FUNERAL DETAILS
We will be celebrating her life at Surrey & Sussex Crematorium on Wednesday 15th November from 3pm then after at the South Godstone Sports Club, Lagham Road, RH9 8HE to toast Betty's life and would welcome you to join us. If you'd like to send flowers please do consider instead donating to St Catherine's Hospice as Betty will be cremated and we would hate for the flowers to go to waste. The Hospice does amazing work in supporting people with a terminal illness and their families in Sussex and East Surrey.
If you'd like to attend the funeral the family ask if you would consider wearing something purple as this was Betty's favourite colour and could be found all over her home as well as on the clothes she'd enjoy wearing.
