Denise Messy (11 Apr 1939 - 1 Nov 2023)
Funeral Director
In loving memory of Denise Messy who sadly passed away on 1st November 2023
Proud Scot before everything, she was born on a farm not too far from Duns, went to school there, were she was much better at sports than anything else as she did not like school very much!!! She decided to go on an adventure to Switzerland in the 50’s, she met André. The ‘adventure’ lasted more than 50 years before she came back to the British Isles to be with Philippe, Emma and Théo.
She was a devoted wife, a loving Mum and was wrapped around Théo little finger. Boy she loved him and and never ceased to.
In Bonneville, her pride was her garden, she made THE best millionaire shortbread, and just enjoyed the French way of life with André her husband, although she could get very cross with the French themselves… especially when they were beating the Scots at rugby, the sport that she loved to watch more than any other, except for tennis - especially Wimbledon!
She never forgot Scotland and her beloved Borders and often missed her friends there, her sister Jinty and the family in Yorkshire. Once back in the UK, she missed greatly her French friends and Annecy. She often say that in life you can not have everything, but life gave her a lot, simple things, Love, family and friendship.
Rest in Peace Maman
