In loving memory of Gary Charles Cottrell who sadly passed away on 21st October 2023

Husband of 47 years to Rita, Father to Gemma and devoted Grandad to Ben & Riley.
Gary also leaves his older brother Derek and younger sister Karen.

Gary was a generous man, always willing to help friends and neighbours. A DIY guru with more tools in his garage than B&Q!

An Engineer by trade, with a logical mind, sharp wit and even sharper tongue he didn’t suffer fools : )

Gary had a mischievous streak and could always be relied upon to tell a cringeworthy joke or three!

He will be missed so very much.

Donations if desired, in memory of Gary, to a charity of the families choice and may be placed in the donation box provided at the service.

So sad to hear you have passed away Gary. I remember fondly our time working together at CEVA. We had lots of laughs and you would always support everyone. You will be so missed. Thinking of Rita, Gemma and all your family at this difficult time. May you rest in peace xx

After working for Gary in my last year or so at Serck Controls, he left to work at Kinetica/Powergen and asked if I would come and work for him there. It was my first step into another company and really helped to boost my career. I remember him in his office in Tamworth shouting out the crossword clues and his red (i think) Seat Toledo GTi. After Powergen was taken over by Eon and we all went our separate ways, I managed to catch up with Gary again whilst I was working in the metering business at Siemens a few years ago.
All my thoughts are with you all at this time.

Dear Rita and Gemma, I only heard the sad news of Gary's passing last night and I'd like to offer my sincere condolences to you both and your loved ones. Gary was my first "proper" boss when I was starting out on my career almost thirty years ago, and I will be forever grateful to him for giving me that opportunity. We had some great times in that little office in Amington, which I still remember with great fondness...along with the cringeworthy jokes!

Best wishes to you all,
Scott

I was so sorry to hear of Gary’s passing. We worked together and when I think back it makes me smile. Gary was everything people have said, he was both dedicated and determined to get results but at the same time always great fun to be with and we shared many laughs together. I will always remember Gary and this time so fondly. I know he will be missed terribly but has left many more happy memories for so many people. I am sending my love and deepest condolences to both you Gemma and all the family.

Doesn’t feel real, known Gary since I was a teenager and both he and Rita made me feel welcome in their home from day one, always the first to offer lifts wherever we needed to go or if we got stranded! A wonderful dad to Gemma and the best grandfather, wonderful sense of humour and all round gentleman, rest in peace ❤️

Gary, my father in law. A man who looked after his own . A genuine , say it like it is man. Didn't suffer fools but gave everything to those who earned his respect. I learnt a lot from you Gary and you are deeply missed.
