In loving memory of Ian David Firth who sadly passed away on 16th October 2023

Ian was born in Whitkirk, Leeds, to Maisy and Edward on 26th March 1941. He claimed that one of his first memories was sitting in the garden watching Hitler fly over...
He became an apprentice with the Yorkshire Electricity Board in 1959, and enjoyed his career as an electrical engineer for 54 years.
He bought Willow Garth in 1971, and led the bachelor life until marrying Marlene on Christmas eve in 1983. Ian became a stepfather to Lisa and Matthew, and when Danielle and Charlotte came along, the family was complete.
He took his family on many road trips to Spain, and had many adventures over the years.
He faced a diagnosis of Parkinsons disease later in life, but never complained, and carried on regardless.
Ian will be remembered as an incredibly generous and loyal man, always ready with a witty quip and a twinkle in his eye.

  • Many a happy memory spent in Ian’s pool as a child of the village and attending some very good New Year’s Eve parties too. Condolences to Ian’s family. Lynda (nee Burnell)
