David Hugh Rodgers (11 Mar 1947 - 10 Oct 2023)

Condolences to the family of Dave, sad loss of a great bloke whom I first met in the early 1970s as a teenager with my dad Bob who was his workmate on the lorries at Thoresby Colliery. Dave had a great sense of humour and always a pleasure to chat with about the past. I remember around 1974 Dave,Dad & myself having a ride out to Lincoln to view a speed boat for sale they had heard about for £25 !!! it had been banned from the river Trent for speeding, what was more interesting was the fact the guy selling the speed boat had built a helicopter which was tethered to Mother Earth via a chain !! sadly the boat had been sold as communications were a Fortnite behind then, to my astonishment Dave started bartering for the helicopter with the £25 to make the trip to Lincoln worth the while, now that would have been a first !! you don't forget adventures like that albeit 50yr ago. RIP Dave, reunited again with his lovely wife Sheila.
